The Honorable Karen A. Lemon was first elected Register of Wills for Wicomico County in November, 1994. She had previously worked in the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for 21 years.

Karen was married to the late Don Lemon. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Over the years, Karen has completed many continuing legal education classes with the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL), courses in Administering Estates in Maryland, Computer Systems Administration, Mediation and Conflict Resolution and other various classes relating to all aspects of her position as Register of Wills. A member of the Maryland Orphans' Court Association, she also serves on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Register of Wills Association.

In an effort to preserve all original documents that have been filed in the office since the county originated in 1867, Karen has overseen the imaging and preservation of records in digital form. Maryland is one of the first states in the nation to implement an automated Probate Court management system.

Karen was recognized by the Wicomico Commission for Women for her involvement within the community. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Salisbury Salvation Army, Advisory Board of Women Supporting Women, is a member of the Wicomico County Historical Society, Wicomico Preservation Trust, Salisbury Moose Lodge, Wicomico Democratic Club, is an honorary charter member of the Salisbury Rotary Club-Sunrise and was named a lifetime member of the Wicomico County Volunteer Firemen's Association.
