The Honorable Mary C. Rolle

Mary has worked and served in Frederick County for many years. Early in her career she worked in various roles in the criminal justice system, including addictions counseling and parole and probation.

After years working closely with law enforcement, she began serving as a Professor of Criminal Justice at Frederick Community College (FCC). In addition to teaching at FCC, she served as Chair of the Faculty Association, Chair of the College Senate and a Board member of CALM Frederick, Community Alternative Mediation, Inc.

As part of her work as professor, Mary also taught at the Maryland State Police Academy and conducted classes on stress management for Maryland State Trooper candidates.

In 2001 she received the Frederick Community College Innovation Award for her innovation in the creation and implementation of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Police Science.

Spurred by her father’s storied career as a Circuit Court Judge and her empathy and problem solving, Mary was elected to the Orphans’ Court in 2018. She served as the Chief Judge through 2022 working to ensure families faced with the loss of a loved one are able to settle difficult matters in a smooth and fair process.

Following her service on the Orphans’ Court, she was elected as Register of Wills in 2022. As Register of Wills, she is focused on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the last wishes of each decedent are carried out.

Mary holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Psychology. She is a member of the Maryland Register of Wills Association and the National College of Probate Judges. She lives in Thurmont where she enjoys spending time with her 4 grandchildren, 3 cats, 2 dogs and a horse. She is also a volunteer with the animal shelter.
